Default Starting levels for Empires

In the game 'Birth of the Federation' the empires could be set to different levels creating an adjustable difficulty.

In Space Empires 4 there is a 'player setting' screen seperate from the 'players 'screen, if possible it would be nice to combine the two screens so that each empire could be set to different levels on Racial points,Tech levels, and number of starting planets.

Or is there a way of doing just that, I have not found.

I intially thought the option of 'Saving Empire' was to save that individual empire's
Tech Level, but,of course it isn't.

I don't think you can have different starting techs for different race - well I'm pritty sure you can't - You could in 3 though, (Don't know way I wrote that but any way.)

There's alot of things that was in SE3 that's not in SE4 that alot of people miss. This is one of them.

What you can do is set player settings to use 5000 racial points but only use 1000 or 2000 yourself. And use high starting resources and don't do any research the first turn. That should give the AI a little boost.

If you really want to get X tech levels, you could have somebody else run the first 30 or so turns, researching only those techs that each player requested, then letting the queue idle. The AIs will be controlled manually, so they don't start expanding until the game really starts. Once everything is ready, the AI is turned back on, and the game file gets mailed back to you.

Starting conditions will be identical to normal, but you will have the extra tech levels, and a later date on your clock.
