TaeraRepublic is on a distinguished road
Default SE RPG community dying *sigh*

Well, the topic says it all.
I am in Space Empires since the end of '98, and back then the community used to be FAR more active. far. Now it is pretty much dead, aroud 10 people left...ohwell.

And the major judj-hadrian conflict affected it much, many people left because of it, and it resulted in separation of old players from the rest of the Ladder.

It is sad, i always liked the Role-Playing of Space Empires the most.

Just wanted to let people know.

Wow is it really dead?

I'm new to the game and genre and thought the community for SEIV was the best I've seen for any game. Not the biggest but the best. I just started a game on PBW and we have 10 players. That can't be everyone. There are hundreds registered at PBW.

Or am I missing something. When TaeraRepublic refers to Space Empires is that some smaller group of which I'm not aware? What was the "major judj-hadrian conflict" anyway?

Don't die now community! I'm having too much fun.

I think Taera is referring to people who not only multiplay, but do it in an RPG fashion. That means that they don't go "out of character" while using out of bounds communication like email. I intend to roleplay as much as I can in my current PBW game (with you Letharg). So for example, in stead of saying "Please move your ships away!" I'll say:

"The diplomatic emmisary of the Dragon Empire respectfully conveys the wishes of his Emperor. It is Our desire that you clarify the intent of your vessels who have entered into Dragon space. Be aware that if no explanation is forthcoming, forthwith, we will treat them as hostile."

I'm just curious about what's always going on between Hadrian and Judj. I mean what the hell is the big deal between them?

I'm not so interested in the judj-Hadrian thing... I'm more interested as to why they think we should all know about it :P

Back to the RPG topic..
every game I play, any communication between players I do in "Role" unless it's technical Queries or similar.

The RPG community aint dead, we just dont have a website that tells everyone else what's happening

I think Taera means RPG in larger scale. There used to be a lot of Role Play were people wrote tens of pages in forums. Nowadays I've seen only little compared to that. The Judj-Hadrian thing has been around since SE3 so I don't know a lot about it.

I, too, intend to be a pure role-player; I'm less interested in winning the game than I am in telling the stories of my people.

Of course, I haven't actually _played_ yet; I'll be joining my first PBW game in a day or two.

I enjoy roleplaying my races, too, but my Favorites, the Tiktsin, are too pacifistic to be competitive in a game against human players. My Rrurrr are combative enough for PBW, but my lack of experience is getting them crushed in Geo's tourney.

I'll probably RP in my PBW games, but the race I'm using right now has a rather..non helpful.. attituide. Kind of a "go away or we'll BLOW you away" deal
