Default New Scenario: The Pebble Island Raid

The Pebble Island Raid -
British SAS assault vs Argentina defend
Date: May 15th, 1982
*
Battle Location: Pebble Island, Falkland Islands*
Length: 30 turns; Size: 80x100; Visibility: 4;*
*
___To be played as British side vs the AI*
*
Scenario based on historic events, therefore not balanced (see sources below), though without claiming historic correctness in all respects*
*
__________Design by: Shan, (c) 2007*

Mission Briefing:
Major, your squadron is on the way to a classic night-time raid against the enemy air strip at Pebble Island. Your men are packed into two Sea Kings - the assault group in one, the support group plus an experienced forward observer in the other. The helos are to take the recon group already on the ground home as well. Use the designated LZs and meet up with the recon teams, who will guide you to your targets. Adverse weather should keep most defenders sleeping in the settlement.

Your mission goals are straightforward - go in unseen, hit all high-value targets found at the air field, and withdraw without any casualties, if possible without any firefight at all!

Hi everyone,

any comments/suggestions for me to improve before I might publish this elsewhere?

It's the first time I ever publish something and I've done so because recently I read a lot about that war and while great scenarios covering all major battles already exist (search for them on Wargamer! sadly they are not included in the standard patches) the Pebble Island thing was rather easy to operationalize, given limited time + resources available on my side.

Hope you enjoyed it - I'm now working on something bigger that never actually happened, also set in 1982 down 'south...

I've tested the scenario, and it plays really well as far as I can tell.
Maybe a bit on the easy side? I've achieved a decisive victory first time around, which is something that just doesn't happen to me

All in all, this scenario is really enjoyable, not too complicated to grasp and not too long to play. Well polished and clean look, so go publish it right away!

One or two things that could possibly be corrected, but that's just my opinion: give more value to the airport victory hexes, and keep the troops inside the helos, for the player to deploy (just keep the deployment points marked using text as you did). That should raise the challenge a bit if needed, but it's up to you.

Thanks for the feedback -

of course this is more than easy, it's meant to be like that as it should be historically correct, more or less... and I even strenghtened the Argies a bit(mortars, AAMGs). As you said - it should be enjoyable to play, and a clean operation, without any losses on your side.

And the helos - I deployed them on the edge of the map first with troops on board but that would make the temptation to land elsewhere too great - and the V hexes: I might increase those in the village to make it more balanced in terms of victory points but I dont have much experience with such things and this isnt a classic conquering-objectives-scenario - as the airfield shouldn't be conquered and defended, thats why I made them practically worthless.
