I have tried to D/L some that are zipped but to no avail.
I know how to U/L a pretender and put the trn into a file so I can play...but this is on normal maps.

Re: D/L Mods and Scenario\'s
Are you using Mac, Linux, or the other one? (*)
When you try to download, what browser are you using, and what happens? Do you get a file you can't deal with? If so, what's the extension (.zip, .rar, something else?)?
(*) Oh, I remember...the other one is Windows. I hear people still use that.

If you're using the 'other one' it's nice and simple at least, with things going into a subdirectory of the dom3 folder.

Re: D/L Mods and Scenario\'s
I have windows xp.....I'm not (sigh) exactly what a browser is but i have MSN AND windows explorer (is there a way to find out as It never has been an issue before)
I D/L a scenario to desktop and try and open it and it says windows can't open it.
Guess I need to put it somewhere (like the trn file maybe?) but don't know where.
If any of this makes sense and you think you can walk this dummy thru it I would appreciate it....
Thanks guys!!!

Re: D/L Mods and Scenario\'s
This is a guess, but this is a mistake I made.,
When you unzip a map or mod file it sometimes(?) puts both files map and Tga in the case of maps or the dm file is in the folder with the tga files. The game doesn't see the map file or the dm file if it is the file. Also sometimes the folders are within another folder, which prevents the game from seing them.
So after downloading the map files, they must be appear in identical fashion in the maps subdirectory as the maps that came with the game.

Pardon me if Im reading the info wrong, but just to cover some basic territory...
Does it say that it doesnt know how to handle a zip file?
Does it unpack the files to your desktop?
The mods go in the dominions3/mods directory and the maps go in the dominions3/maps directory. Unzipping them on the desktop rarely puts them in the right place.

Re: D/L Mods and Scenario\'s
It sound like you just unzipped them to the desktop.
Move the files to the dominions3/maps folder. If maps doesn't exist, create it under dominions3.

A browser is a program you use to navigate the Internet and view Web pages like this one. In your case, that would be Internet Explorer. In IE (and many other programs), you can open the Help menu and select About, and it will tell you which version you are running.
