Default changing map sizes

Need some advice about changing the the map size during a campaign. I started out with an 80x80 map and I seem to be stuck with that size even if I change the map size under the preferences in between battles. I'd like to get to a larger map and somehow I thought once you finished a battle the next battle you fought would pick up the settings from the preferences and apply them.

If I'm missing a setting, some enlightenment would be great!

Thanks in advance

Steve

I am pretty sure you can change in between battles there is a button called map or some such. 1 Changes default map type, 1 changes map size. If does not work prefs button is there to.
Cant remember what buttons are there but can also do following

If none of those work load a pregen map of size you want then generate a new one.

If do not decide to do till at the map screen the last option is your only one.

Between games, when you are picking your extra forces you can look at your map, in there you can change map, either by letting the AI change for you, or choose one of the many great maps created for the game.

In there you can also change visibility, so if your new game have a visibility of 4, and you like some more your can change it. You can also change the victory flags there.

So all you have to do is to press the map button and customize your next battle. And there are plenty of great maps to choose from.

Enjoy.

I have the cd game, and I never have to change the map size after the first time, as it remains the same. The answer may be that you need the cd for it to stick, and that doesnt sound too unreasonable, because I think the cd was the only version that allowed you certain map sizes (200x160 for example).

There are more screen resolutions in the CD version but the map sizes available are exactly the same for both versions. What's available in the CD version is explained in the Game Guide.

When you are finished your battle and are in the screen that allows you to rebuild your units you'll see a button on the left that's labeled "Map/Preferences". That allows you to go into preferences at that time only and change your map size

I'll be re-writing that section of the GG so this is clearer

Thanks for the responses gents and I finally got it to work last night.

I had the settings at 150 x 120 and just for the heck of it I changed the 150 to 140 and it worked. I suspect that the SP gods are a fickle bunch and my lack of playing time was taken as being disrespectful to their needs.

Whoo hoo, it's off to blow something up on a bigger map...
