question repairs/change
Although I have played more than a couple of PBEM campaigns (and few against the AI), I have never tried this and I am considering trying it for a PBEM campaign. Is it possible, good, bad things about it?
What? Oh, yeah, changing a damaged/destroyed unit into something else at the end of one battle, without first repairing it.

Re: question repairs/change
I did that once. The cost to change a damanged unit was more than to change a non-damaged unit of the same type. I don't know if the additional cost as offset by the repairs, or if it was a different amount. I'll have to check it out at the end of my current battle.

Re: question repairs/change
IIRC,it was said if you plan on changing the unit anyway,do not repair.
I remember that because i thought that was important.
I'm almost sure it was Andy or Don.

Of course.
If you repair it and then change it you pay twice:
1) the points to repair it
2) The points to change it (assuming the new unit is more expensive)
The points to repair a destroyed unit are about 50% of full unit cost.
If you simply change the unit without repairing it then you avoid cost 1.

Re: question repairs/change
Andy, you say about 2)The points to change it (assuming the new unit is more expensive).
Do you mean that if the new unit is less expensive (say of a different type), you will get points back?

No - you will just have spent less points on the change.

Re: question repairs/change
Go fig. It looks like I was wrong in my theory. Thanks for clearing it up.
