Just.... wow
I'll start off by saying that I discovered Illwinter just before Dominions 3 came out. (What really sold me, btw, was the actualy physical manual). I've really enjoyed Dominions 3, and all the patches have been great.
Recently I've downloaded and been playing Conquest of Elysium II. I think I'm enjoying it more than Dominions. It's simple, its... odd, and it is amazing. I love the different mechanics used by different races, I love how random it is.
It has some issues, sure, but it's great. If it was updated or remade, I'd buy it in a second.
Thanks.
Edit: It is only now that I see how old the other posts are. Go forum necromancy!
Still, amazing game, and I hope IW will make another.

Re: Just.... wow
Pssst!
Here!
Illwinter is working on a new game, and it's not Dominions IV.
I have the feeling (and it's my very personal, completely subjective and absolutely fact-free), that that game will be a more "adventurous" one, turning away from the strategic view of Dominions and back to the more roleplaying-oriented CoE2.
Or something completely different.

Re: Just.... wow
Sorry for bumping, but this is EXACTLY my thoughts, so I'd rather not make a new thread.
I had to kill some time yesterday, launched CoE again after a while, and was just blown away... The commanders could move a bit faster and the combat mechanics are a bit weird and there's no way to know what kind of special attacks creatures have and the game really needs some sort of garrison to make it easier to divide units between different commanders and there are all kinds of user interface things I don't like, but it's like the game was some rare and mysterious treasure that keeps shining through the muck and dust, holding your interest despite the dirt. Even with all of its problems, it's fun, much more fun than I remembered and much more fun than I've had for a while.
A polished version of Conquest of Elysium would be fantastic.

Re: Just.... wow
This is still in my games folder for "just a quick game". You can say alot about illwinter games both pro and con but one thing you have to admit, they have amazing long life.

Re: Just.... wow
I definitely load it up if I feel I wont have the time or the focus to load up Dominions. If Illwinter's next game isn't Dominions 4, then perhaps....
