Default CD upgrade question

I have been playing the free version of MBT for years....I purchased the CD version Monday and was wondering if I will have to uninstall the free version then install the cd or can I just use the cd to upgrade the free version?

I'm not the expert on this but what I did when I bought the WW2 was to back up files saved games and PBEM games. Then uninstalled the free version and then installed the CD version with all patches. Then put saved games and PBEM games in the appropriate folders.

That would be an appropriate way to preserve any ongoing games or campaigns etc., if you have any. Ongoing PBEM games, if secure, should be finished first of course (or abandoned) before upgrading.

Otherwise - just install the CD version to the default folder, and then apply all the patches. No need to uninstall the old demo version first.
