Default I have been away. How are you guys doing?

I have been away from this game for a long while( I've been playing and modding "Shogun Total War").
I have been waiting for a few things to change before I feel this game is really ready to play.
The A.I. wasn't ready a year ago, I didn't like how all the satellites launched mostly on one side of a planet(ususally the wrong side), and we could use fighters in a sector like a ship and the A.I. didn't.
Plus some minor things like the A.I. never landed troops on a planet and some minor play balance issues.
Well it's a year later, can anyone tell me if the game is ready for serious play yet?
In my opinion the game was released too early, but that was a good thing because so many of us here have made it better.
So I put SE4 on the back burner for the summer hoping things would iron out by autumn.
I see there is a new patch.

So whats the scoop on the satellite and fighter etc... problems?

-Thanks

still there. player modded AIs have gotten alot smarter though, and there is a giant web based multiplayer server at seiv.pbw.cc where you can play the game against real oponents, with automated turn generation.

edit: you can mod Total War? COOL! I just started playing (hard game, i think) and I had no idea you could mod it. How? how much can you change? I asume you could translate it easily to western units (knights and longbowmen and stuff) but can you mod it into a sci-fi game? stormtroopers and jedi, or marines and powerarmor? I guess it would not translate perfectly with the block formations and the indirect arrow arcs and whatnot, but it might be neat to fiddle with.

You can do a little modifying to it(Warlord edition) and create maps, but its no SE4 in the mod dept. They are working on a new game that was called "Crusader Total War" but they changed it to "Medieval Total War" so not to piss off the muslim world.

Has there been any changes with Sats and Fighters since spring?

Emperor Zodd, nope, problems still exist. Ai still doesn't land troops, (some mods do have this tho), sats still launched as before. I Play Shogun, like it, but it to has some problems, mostly in MP play but Sp also needs some work. Still come back to Se4
tho, its still an excellent game, a lot of new mods have been added

My opinion only, Ai is better then it was compared to when it first came out, after all the patches, the modded Ai's even tougher from what everyone has been saying, I haven't played a mod yet...But Ai still needs some work but better then it was

just some ideas mac

new modded AIs are indeed landing troops. The TDM modpack is still being updated, and has quite a few AI in it now. Many independant shipsets are also available with their own AI, some of which land troops.

the real challenge is still playing against people, which is much easier to do these days.

Am I the only one that thinks Sats and fighters need to be fixed?

A number of fighter problems have been fixed; see History.txt for details.

Lots of people think sats needs to be fixed, but I'm not sure there's much consensus on either the exact problems or the solutions.
