German Rifle Grenade Inf-AT
In the German OOB, Unit #372 Granatetruppen is listed as an Inf-AT, but the early war rifle grenade weapon has no armour penetration, HEAT or HE. I was wondering what the point of an Inf-AT unit with out an AT capable weapon was. If HEAT rounds were unavailable perhaps a token HE pen of 1 would be justified? If not perhaps it should be re-classified.
A number of scenarios have these units as the only available Inf-AT, but I fear that the rifle grenades have been retroactively nerfed, unbalancing the scenarios.

Re: German Rifle Grenade Inf-AT
Think of them as just additional infantry fire support, not as AT.

The weapon has a small HEAT value (1) - which will be used in close assaults. This, together with the WH size for HE penetration at range, gives it a very marginal ATK capability.
However, in the time frame you may prefer the ATK Rifles for ATK work against little scout cars etc.
Myself, I prefer the rifle grenadiers to the ATRs, and use it as as a platoon scout which can lob some HE when required as suggested above (ranged to 1 with the Y key in the initial battle).
The Germans suffer from poor infantry ATK capability in the early war, just like most of the other nations. Some units do have access to grenade bundles, which are also marginal. But proper AT grenades and AT mines etc come along reasonably soon. Up till then you will have to do what the Germans did historically - support the infantry companies with armour, or the 3.7cm PAK.
Cheers

Re: German Rifle Grenade Inf-AT
Exatly, many armies prior to the war did not see the need for an infantry toi have antitank capability, except 37mm and 75mm field guns. Some armies had AT rifles or developped them, but often at a snail pace.
The real kicker in this area was the HEAT round. Before that, any infantry AT capacities were marginal.
