Game freezes
Suddenly my game has started freezing when the first enemy fire is about to impact my forces. It may be a SAM about to hit an aircraft or offboard arty about to land. You can see the graphics pause, and may stay for hours. It just started this week on a game that other wise has been running flawlessly under Vista. Anyone else experience anything similar?

Re: Game freezes
What have you installed recently or do a full virus check plus possibly run a disk check for harddrive errors esp if had an unusual shutdown

Re: Game freezes
When my computer starts freezing, normaly when the weather starts warming,it's an overheating problem,
and time to bring it in and have a through cleaning done,if you have pets, you would be amazed on how much hair and dander gets in during the winter!
Also have them check the fans and replace if needed.

Had a box that I kept on the floor beside my desk, on a short pile carpet.
Opened it after about 3 years - and it seemed to have ingested half the carpet through its cooling vents. It was absolutely stuffed with compacted felt. Felt is a very good insulator.
It ran much better thereafter once that was dealt with and it was moved on top of the desk!.
And yes - it had been starting to have random lock-ups/freezes. Entirely due to having the carpet felt stuffing.

Re: Game freezes
This appears to be a corrupted driver or file. When I turn animations to "off" the game runs fine, but is less fun to play. Unless someone knows a shortcut to fix it, I will just reload the game and updates.
Thanks for all the suggestions

Try to update your graphics drivers.

Re: Game freezes
Interesting, I too have a slightly similar issue. Some times, not always, and what appears to be random, just when there is a hit, explosion usually, there is a blackout of the game window. Most of the time this happens when watching a replay. I think it first appeared with the latest version. I decided not to mention it since apparently for some people, I am the only one having issues with the game...but now that there is one more mentioning something, why not.
It doesn't freeze for minutes or anything, just enough time for the "animation" of the explosion to take place. Again, it doesn't always happen so I can't recreate it under certain conditions. It may happen several times during a turn/replay, or it might not happen for many turns.
It is not overheating, at least in my case.

Re: Game freezes
Okay think I have noticed something like that the odd time doesnt freeze game just causes a refresh but I normaly have a lot of stuff runing in the background & it is very rare & causes no impact on game in my case. Are you running other graphic stuff in background that may cause it most obviously a wallpaper changer if playing in windowed mode

and...
- is the game the one and only thing you have run and are running while playing ? Have you run hours of other applications before playing the game or is this the only thing you have going?
How many other programs are running while the game is running and are you on line while playing?
As I have already said many times in the past I regularly run the game, Paint shop Pro, A text Editing program and MOBHack all at the same time while getting patches ready and my computer is an 11 year old Dell with a 800 Mhz Pentium III which means it's a senior citizen with a walker compared to most machines today ( that said I recently picked up a rootkit that caused a nasty crash and for a few days thought I'd lost everything but that was not the case and after I had a new HD installed along with a fresh install of XP it's running better than ever now with my old HD as D: )
That said, if I've been running for hours and doing a lot of things I *occasionally* see oddities like this in the game AND other programs as well.
That said the inital report of " Suddenly my game has started freezing "indicates first that it was running fine before which means something new has been introduced to change that so what changed ?

Re: Game freezes
Sorry was a direct response to Wdlls post as original problem seemed solved, should have used quotes. The VERY odd time its like it needs to refresh never bothers me & Im sure is caused by something runing externaly to the game. Reason I mentioned wallpaper changer is because when desktop changes screen will refresh so seemed a possible cause. Said several times your games are incredibly stable I often have 2-5 things going including online & it plays fine rock solid programing as far as im concerned.
