Infantry anti-tank weapons
I have question concerning various infantry close quarter weapons.
And I am particularly interested in those to fight tanks with.
For example, soviet infantry lately has a lot of different equipment. Those include molotov cocktails, various mines and RPG grenades with different stats.
Lets say I want to equip my men with the best ones.
I noticed that some of those weapons come with both HE and AP kind of ammo. I presume that the main diffence is that the "HE" type ammo can be used to combat both infantry and vehicles, but "AP" only to combat vehicles.
I also noticed that such weapons usualy have some kind of "HEAT" rating but no "HEAT" ammunition of their kind is present. Does that mean that even HE or AP pieces of this weaponry use this "HEAT" rating somehow, or should I look only at their relevant AP and HE penetration value against vehicles?

Re: Infantry anti-tank weapons
Often more than one type of unit uses a weapon & they may have diffrent ammo loadouts due to their use or the time period & some ammo not being available.
The stats list the effects for all ammo types that weapon can fire, so the HEAT column is irrelivant if you dont have HEAT ammo.
Versus armour
HE uses the left PEN
AP uses the right PEN
SABOT uses APCR
HEAT uses HEAT
HE is as always mainly for use vs soft targets & the other types may well be fired at them to reserving the last 3 shots normaly for any armor.
This is all in the game guide

Re: Infantry anti-tank weapons
I know its in the game guide.
Problem is that some units have weapons which have only AP ammo listed, yet they have zero penetration for that type of ammo.
examples:
RPG40 - pen 2:0 HEAT:3 (no HE ammo)
RPG43 - pen 4:0 HEAT:7 (no HE ammo)
similar is molotov , who has pen 4:0 HEAT:9 , but this weapon has some HE ammo and some AP ammo in several cases
Geballte ladung - pen 2:0 HEAT:2 (has usually both HE and AP ammo)
Those close ranged explosive weapons never have any kind of HEAT ammo listed (I thought only first slot weapon can have special ammo, but its possible to some weapons have "hidden" HEAT capability).
Funny is, I can defeat tanks with AP Geballte ladung pretty nice, even if it has zero penetration. So I concluded there is some hidden quality in that and thats why I asked.

Re: Infantry anti-tank weapons
Okay & forgot as just read them, if AP ammo has a zero rating it uses the HEAT rating or an approximation of it for flame weapons which seem to be more varied in their effect.
