Question on download version
Not sure if this is where I should ask this but there doesn't seem to be any way to contact Gamer's Front people.
I have the 10.1 disk version, have a friend I've been playing wargames with for 40 years who I installed the free version for a long time ago, he's not very pc savvy.
He's moving to his summer home now that his wife has retired and won't have internet access for his pc there, got a new computer and wanted me to put WinSPWW2 on it for him.
I was thinking of ordering him the disk version only to find out it's only available in download version. Most downloads I've purchased require internet access to register and use them. Wanted to know if the WinSPWW2 download version does, if not then I'll order him one, copy the file to a jump drive and install it when I go up for a visit. If it does I was thinking I could uninstall my disc version and purchase the download for myself and give him my disc.

Re: Question on download version
There are 2 versions of the game
- the free demo, which is a download
- the CD or full version
The CD version is available 2 ways:
- the boxed version, which comes with a CD and manuals
- or as a downloaded version
The downloaded version - I think - comes off a link that Shrapnel sends you in an email.
The downloaded version of the full (CD) game is popular amongst users in those countries that put a massive VAT or import tax on physical copies sent by mail. Or those who want the full game right now, without delays for snail mail.

Re: Question on download version
No registration required only thing you need internet for after is the patches so make sure to download those onto the jump drive as well.
Future patches could possibly be downloaded on the phone.

Actually the CD version is not being offered by Gamer's Front who I guess is handling Shrapnel's sales now, that's why I wanted to know if he would need internet capability to activate the game. Patches won't be a problem as I download them as they come available and can install anything he needs. Will just buy him the download and take it up on one of my backup usb drives where all my game downloads and patches are stored.

Re: Question on download version
After the last burn of CD's was used up we agreed to go with paid DL only of the full "CD" version. I *think* there are still some CD's for MBT left but I don't handle that end of things.
For a lot of people being able to DL the full game was a WAY better option than a physical CD that might require duty and taxes depending on where you are ( not to mention shipping charges )
