Passenger Bug
This is in regards to the passenger bug that occured during my operation Uranus campaign. I am working on another campaign right now and have a scenario where the bug occurs on a pretty large scale.
What I could ascertain so far:
- The bug affects units that are set as passengers of [fix] vehicles (for a campaign)
- It creates a "ghost version" of these units that are placed in the position of units of the enemy team
- The enemy AI seems unable to interact with these, but they can spot
My guess: the game somehow gets "confused" and places these in the positions of the enemy team unit that have the same unit ID number (B0 etc).

Re: Passenger Bug
I should maybe add that the "ghost units" are labelled "passenger" and you can actually move them, without the enemy AI reaction, but only 1 hex. After that, you immediately select the transport that stores them. If the unit leaves the transport, the ghost unit disappears.

Re: Passenger Bug
As usual, in cases like this, a saved game would be helpful
Is this campaign by any chance one you have been working on for a while and you did your set-up with an earlier game version?
The only time we have seen this before IIRC was some of Don Lazovs "resurrected" scenarios.
You MAY need to start those units unloaded
We will need to find the exact procedure that starts this so if you can set up a simple test campaign that shows it then we can debug it
My primary problem sorting this out or trying to set up a simple campaign to see if this can be made repeatable is I have ZERO experience working with or creating campaigns beyond checking campaign scenarios for issues related to OOB changes
Further questions
These passengers of [fix] vehicles........ are they the normal passengers of [fix] vehicles like a mech infantry platoon?
Are the passengers core units or just units added for that scenario that were made passengers of core units?
Does the problem go away if the are dismounted from the vehicles and are the vehicles they are passengers of vehicles that the passengers are in or carried outside of?

Re: Passenger Bug
Its been 20 odds years since I coded those - I do recall that problems will occur if you subsequently move a fixed auxiliary vehicle with passengers. IIRC, you need to go through the whole process of fixing it and the passenger once again or the "ghosts" can appear.

Re: Passenger Bug
Oh - and it may require you to unload and reload the passengers again and then "re-fix" the mounted pair at the new point, or the "ghost" pax appear. IIRC, the ghosts are sorted in the game play, and only appear to the scenario designer.

Re: Passenger Bug
No, they dont appear in the editor, only in gameplay. But I will try to re-place them and report back.

Re: Passenger Bug
I managed to fix it by having those units appear as reinforcements on turn 1.
