Empires - Borders
I get really annoyed on PBW because nobody seems to use the Empires - Borders window to claim systems. I was wondering why? This is such a huge feature in SEIV, allowing players to claim stake claims or relinquish claims to systems. It is clear, and definitive. And when I tell people in game to relinquish their claim to systems they are just like "I don't have a claim on that system" when, according to the borders window, they do. Bugs the crap out of me. So, who uses it?

Re: Empires - Borders
I agree, I use those windows to track my empire's growth and that of my foe.
Personally, I say if other people don't use it, then they put themselves into a position of adding a weapon to my aresenal!
I enjoy the borders window as well from an aspect that it reminds me of those massive maps in the situation room of norad

Re: Empires - Borders
I use it, but probably not the way you think. I use it to deceive opponents.

Re: Empires - Borders
true, you can use it to claim systems in another part of the map and unclaim your own. Other players that rely on the map will be pulled out of position opening up thier soft underbelly for attack

Re: Empires - Borders
If someone isn't paying attention to the system borders, you can offer them system trades - all these do are alter the system claims.

Re: Empires - Borders
I use it to see what the AIs are claiming, and sometimes I 'expand' my own borders when I see some gaps. But it's really more important for the AI to recognize what borders are and respect/defend them more consistently. Currently the AI only notices violation of its 'border' by hostile empires. They will all will blindly inter-settle with any other empire that has any level of friendly treaty with them.
