Troops Question?
Newbie question here.
How do i build troops?
What tech do i need?
I dont seem to have options to build troops, mines or fighters.
I dont understand whats going on, im starting to think my game is broken.

Re: Troops Question?
Research construction, and you will open the Troops tech area.
Research at least one level of troops, and you will be able to build them.
Smaller weapons, and/or troop weapons will allow you to put guns on them, allowing you to use them for planetary assault instead of just defending and improving happiness by policing your civilians.

Re: Troops Question?
You have to research Construction first. That will open the tech areas for troops, mines, fighters.
After that research troops, and after that troop weapons. Troops are designed much the same way as ships.
Hope that helps,
Rollo

Re: Troops Question?
If your early in the game, you might want to get Small weapons out of the way. it's cheap, and would be a shame to waste a "free tech" from a ruins on something that only cost 5k reasearch.

Also needed for fighters. A worthwile tech to research, with the intention of getting constrution, then something other than mines.

If the ruins has small weapons, you will get nothing from it when colonizing the planet later. Ruins are seeded with techs when the map is created. Reloading the game and recolonizing gives the same techs. If you already have the tech the ruins are seeded with, you get nothing from them.

Re: Troops Question?
You also should research cargo technology up so you can carry more units per ship.

The two will hover, spinning inches above the ground. With a giant buttered cat array, a high-speed monorail could easily link New York with Chicago.

Not according to the tests I ran on it. The techs that are seeded at map creation are the unique techs. Not the multiple tech gifts.

Re: Troops Question?
exactly.
When you make a map you ether choose a specific unique tech OR the number of random normal techs the player will get when colonizing.
