OT question... is their going to be a New Mini series of Battlestar Galactica?

I just saw an add tonight on the Sifi channel about a Mini Series on Battlestar Galactica. Is this true that the Sifi channel is going to make a remake of it or am I confused here.

yes, Battlestar Galactica is being re-envisioned (like starwars was). several fans have said they are going to boycott this, and possibly scifi channel, as it is not true to the original story. starbucks character is being replaced by a female and so is adamas character. it is going to take place from the beginning. in this Version the cylons were created by humanity but rebeled instead of being created by an alien race. I am hoping the miniseries is good as i would like to see them make a new series from it.

I see. Although it sounds odd, it might actually be sort of interesting. Why are they making the Cylons created by humans? I think it would have been interesting to see them made by an Alien race then they destroyed the race and went on a rampage. Kinda like a powerful weapon that got out of hand sort of thing.

Well, I will watch it and see how it goes. Do you know when it is suppose to start?

Although I"m not in favor of having a female Starbuck, I will not be one of those boycotting this show. I remember the show when it was prime-time (please, can someone invent something that will erase Galactica 1980 out of my mind???). I've been waiting like everyone else for almost 25 years for a new show. I would have preferred a sequal starring Richard Hatch and some of the others actors who have been campaigning for it, but I'll take a remake. It's better than nothing. And who knows, maybe a new series Lasting 3 or 4 seasons will come out of it.

If the Cylons where created by Humans, they are not Cylons. If they are not Cylons it is not Battlestar Galactica. I will still watch it, but it is most certainly not Battlestar Galactica

Who cares! The original Battlestar sucked and so will the miniseries... ...let's just hope they have good ships and battlescenes, so come on, you think we watch these shows for the story?

I lived and breathed Battlestar Galactica as a boy. I couldn't wait for the next episode each week. Reruns were also treasured. You have got to remember, this was the pre-VCR age. Many of of grade-school exams and papers were scribbled with the Galactica and vipers. I had the Start Trek bug, but not as bad as Galactica.

The SciFi channel can change it. Most of us don't remember enough about the series anyways. After all they gotta make a buck. And what makes a buck now-a-days is simple:

1) Dumb down the story line, so any idiot can follow the show. Anybody with an IQ above 80 is too smart to be wasting time watching television anyways.

2) Add plenty of girls with deep cleavage. My wife won't be watching Galactica. She won't care if it's a Richard Hatch look-a-like. Men, on the other hand, will care about cup size of the gorgeous female pilot leaning into the viper cockpit.

3) The original series pretty much trashed any hope for a sequel by coming out with those stupid episodes where they found Earth.
