SEIV Gold game slow down

Has anyone experienced a slow down in their SEIV Gold games? After a few turns my games slow and my ships crawl across my screen. If I reboot my machine the speed returns but then slows down again. I have a 1 ghz 256RAM with no virus protection running in the background. Has anyone experience this? If so how were you able to correct it?

Switch off music (in game menu options) or even all sound. You may still temporaly turn it on during tactical battles

It cured this problem on my computer.

Se4 sometimes crawl on fast computers

I don't have Se4 installed on my other computer, which has a 1.5 Ghz processor. The ships crawl, and that is not good on 20-player games

Try installing it on slow computers. My other one, which has a 333 mhz processor, has been converted to a se4 machine, since se4 runs so smoothly with it

I'm not sure but I think the problem comes from the video card. Try decreasing the hardware acceleration on your video card. You also know that you have to reduce the color down from 32 to 16 right ? I am using a 2ghz processer with 512 ddr memory and I have no problems. My video card is an ATI Radeon 8500.

Says who? SE4 runs just fine under 32 bit color for me.

You can find it in the trouble shooting section of the guide. The Space Empires IV Gold guide. It has the problem described and suggests that you change to 16 bit or 24 bit color (page 97) I kept getting video errors until I changed to 16 bit color.

Hmm... never read that thing. Well, it works for me, so I'll just leave it alone.
