The only way I know to do this is to manually change a file named "Main_CharacterStats.txt" in the Campaign Folder (i.e.: Homefront).
You should take note of your current stats and after...

What is the present resolution and color depth of his desktop?
If this is some kind of hard-coded bug I would tell him to try and switch his desktop resolution to 1024x768 with 16-bit color depth....

I try to buy different types of fighters.
Terran Fighters are good to attack from a longer range, but Abbidon fighters are better for their Shield Piercing ability (they have one Phased Polaron...
