Re: A list of all icons and associated units

Yes, that could be interesting. Thanks for all the work!

Now if you want to trace that data back to the .shp files, you may want to use the WinSPMBT\Game Data\Design\WINSPMBT_MasterIconList.txt...

Re: Tactical CS?

IIRC what was used for a lasting effect comparable to tear gas canisters and so on, was to put these CS weapons to a Flame or Napalm weapon class.
This means that the targetted hex will be set on...

Re: Tactical CS?

*Listy? You still around? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif *

A range of non-lethal weapons had already been tested in some experimental OOBs that should still stick to a...

Re: My Strike aircraft targeting MY ammo trucks?!?

Mike,

I know that this isn't a point worth making about pre-planned strikes, but for in-game ones, you may want to have a spotter with a direct LOS on the targetted enemy units, or at least having...

Re: V-22 IOC

Doesn't that sound strange? I think we all heard over and over again in recent years that it was the most unsafe aircraft developped in the recent decades?
So was it all about media lobbyism? The...

Re: XM8 AGS

Some people have been implying that the Stryker MGS was bound to problems in firing at high azimuth angles (3 and 9 o'clock) due to its high gravity center.
But considering the relative amounts of...

Re: UK - Chieftain Ammo - No HEAT rounds

From the Mobhack interface, just besides the "HEAT Penetration" box on the Weapons page, syou should see "HEAT also covers HESH ammo".

Re: Riflemen have too much ammo

Hoplitis is right about infantry having more ammmo available than the bare orbats suggest at first sight. Not because regulations allow you to carry only 4 magazines plus 32 to 56 spare rounds in...

Re: Various Engineer Vehicles

Ferries can work, actually there are already some around, at least the icons exist.

Now the ARV is another problem, since it open doors for all kind of gamey exploits.
In game terms, an armored...

Re: Tank Riders

That's right, I've often had riders dismounting in a hurry the first time their tank was hit by any kind of direct fire, including MGs or such, which have no chance of damaging the tank.

Re: Various Engineer Vehicles

modern AVLBs may take a couple of minutes to deploy, but I think you will find out that most of the older ones (like the MTU or TMM) take more like 20+ minutes.

Besides, if you feel the need for...

Re: SHP Editing Color Question

In using SHPedit (I suppose you do), tick the box marked "SP-No Flash", which will prevent the shp converter from using the glinting colors.

Of course, use the palette Nox mentionned, if you want...

Re: SAM Effectivness

Forgot to mention something about helos, too. Remember that the more sophisticated (and with any luck survivable) your helo, the more infrastructure you will need to keep it up and working.
As...

Re: SAM Effectivness

I agree with what Narwan says, all things considered, if the plane takes a hit that doesn't damage it further than some holes in unimportant sheet-metal parts (i.e. no functional damage) the game...

Re: Infantry firing from inside APCs

I have no reports on actual infantry actually firing from IFV gun ports in actual combat, but anyway I think that this would occur only in rare circumstances, and most of these (fighting off close-in...

Re: Infantry firing from inside APCs

All depends on wether weapons can be made conditional, and apparently not. Because if you add some weapon to the APC (supposing its four slots aren't already full) it will continue firing when the...

Re: SAM Effectivness

What do you consider "ignoring a light hit"? I'm no fighter pilot meself but I'd tend to consider flying back home in one piece a relaxed enough, posture, as opposed to outright ejecting. A plane...

Re: Missing planes in Russian OOB?

Su-22 is an export-only version of the Su-17, you should find it in several OOBs such as Poland, Syria, Angola, Libya, GDR, to name a few.

The Su-32/34 is another matter, since it is apparently...

Re: Details on KBP\'s Hermes missile system?

Try a search with "germes" instead of Hermes, apparently that's the used Russian-English transcription, so you should find more data.

From what I could find, it is supposed to be an advanced...

Re: Apilas and other AT teams

Alright, thanks for the explanation, Andy!

BTW, would it be possible, as far as things go now, to give sufficient penetration to a HE round an use it as AP (i.e. against AFVs), or is the type of...

Re: Artillery ROFs question

I must admit that I have no idea about a possible 'official policy' on that.

BTW, are you sure about the 2A45? AFAIK this one is on a D-30-like three-legged carriage where the wheels are high...

Re: Artillery ROFs question

Hasn't the G5 some move points already?
Anyway if you look at the Russian OOB, you should find a "unit 578: 85mm AT-Gun-Whl" which if I guess right is supposed to be an airborne forces' SD-44, with...

Re: Apilas and other AT teams

Should be Finland, nearly the only other Apilas user, and there have already been complaints about this problem in this very OOB.
Just checked Italy, found none (shouldn't there be some?), so...

Re: AA bug or help needed?

That's it, Fire Control above 99 is AA radar, so according to what Andy just said it will be able to see through smoke and some amount of trees at a distance.
And indeed your AA gun mut be on a...
