Yes, one winner per game. But since it's a double elimination tourney losing doesn't mean you are out of the tourney. Unless it's your second loss that is.

OK. Then there have to be many five player games which means many players needed.

Many players is the idea. Tourneys aren't much fun if you don't have a lot of players.

Yes, but if I understood correctly to get two five player games at the second round we need 50 players in the first round. And that's a lot of people!

No, not quite that many. In the first round everybody plays in two games. Anyone that wins at least one of those two moves to the second round. If we have 25 players then that's 10 first round games. If by some chance the same five guys win two games each that will only be five players in round two. That's the minimum and it requires each of the five to win both their games.

That's unlikely to happen, but even if it does, it's ok. Since none of them will have a loss in the first round each of them will play in two second round games. We'd have two games of five players, with the same five players in both games.

We don't have to have five players in each second round game though if it's not possible due to the numebr of players left. With a double elim tourney you can't really tell what shape the later rounds will take until the first round is over. So some of that will have to be decided when it happens. We could even go with a single game in the second round and then take out anyone that has two loses after that game and go in to the next round.

Can someone think of a good name for the tournament? A tournament has to have a good name.
