Question about modding the religious talisman
I went into components.txt and changed the entries for the talisman to:
Ability 1 Type:= Combat To Hit Offense Plus
Ability 1 Descr:= Gives a 10% attack bonus in combat (only 1 component per ship effective).
Ability 1 Val 1:= 10
So this means I'm trying to make the talisman give you a 10% bonus to hit.
Now here's my question: Does the Talisman normally override other bonus components such as combat sensors?
Meaning, if a ship has combat sensors III for a 65% to-hit bonus and then has a Talisman (of the 10% kind above) added, would the total to-hit bonus be 85% or does the Talisman override and give 10%.

Re: Question about modding the religious talisman
A component will override another component ONLY if it is in the same family. Otherwise, they stack.

The total would be 75%

Additionally, the component with the higher bonus in that family is the one that "overrides" the other. In your example, if the Talisman and Combat Sensors happened to be in the same family, you would have a 65% bonus, as that is higher than the 10% from the Talisman.

Re: Question about modding the religious talisman
Just engines, because you're SUPPOSED to have more than one engine on a ship, and you shouldn't be able to get a Quantum Engine bonus by putting 1 quantum and 5 ion engines on your ship!
