Thought, system claiming
I once saw my game 'ownership' a black hole and nebulae systems near my space. How did that ever happen? is it first found = ownership?

Re: Thought, system claiming
You can claim any system by clicking on it in the Borders window. (Even a system you haven't seen - then you can't see your claim! ) If the "claim colonized systems" is on, all systems colonized by your empire will be claimed. An AI empire will claim all systems it colonizes, and (IIRC) all adjacent systems.

Re: Thought, system claiming
I keep on forgetting about this feature of SE4G. Can't you claim a system just by colonizing a planet, or do you have to go through the below method?

As far as I know, colonizing a planet in a system will automatically claim that system for your empire.

Renegade Yup unless you turn that option off which is possible from within the game.

In the Empire Status window (crown icon), click on Empire Options. It is one of those options.

Re: Thought, system claiming
Every year or so I like to make a sweep and claim anything near my space that I didn't automatically claim, and doesn't belong to a race I'm in alliance/armstice with. (Meaning things like asteroid belts where I have a presence, I claim so the others will know to stay out.)
This game, there's a red giant in a fairly worthless contested system on my right-hand border. Hehe.
