Intel to the rescue.
Like I said, two against one is no fair, and they had the bad habit of keeping both their fleets (12 and 18 ships each) in the same sector.
Communications Mimic!
I really would have loved to see their faces when they loaded up their games.
Now I just have to mop up the remaining few ships that survived the combat.
Regul and Culture, you know who you are.

OK, what's communication mimic do? I haven't delved too deep into intel yet. Although I will have to start as my Last PBEM opponent used it on me a bit. (BTW, he smoked me..... )

Re: PBEM Stories
The communications mimic (at least in this case) causes an immediate state of war between two races. Needless to say this is quite a nasty attack as previously friendly fleets and ships immediately attack each other, and any planets being orbited by ships are attacked. Not to mention loss of trade, research etc.

Re: PBEM Stories
Lupusman, that was very clever, you made the two HUMAN players look like AI-players...
(laughing)
...very good. These are the things I love about the game.

Re: PBEM Stories
Good move! I didn't realize there was a minister of dis-information. I'll have to hire one in my next game

Re: PBEM Stories
In my Last 1.19 game, the AI used Communications Mimic on me 3 or 4 times. I had empires I'd never met at war with me. I finally managed to succeed with a "Capture Ship" intel op against one of those empires; the ship was 40 or 50 systems away! It would have taken YEARS to meet them! I had a bit of fun, though - it was the Cue Cappa race, and I captured a Dreadnought with Allegiance Subverters. Oh, the fun I had trying to get home... too bad patch 1.27 & 1.30 came out before I could build a decent fleet & get them home...
