Re: A new kind of map
Ok, maybe I'm missing something here about Gandolf's maps. These aren't random because of what? You actually drew each of these maps yourself and manually assigned everything?

No the maps are randomly created. Due to the DomMap program.
But there is also the .map file being randomized which I do with basic programs. I take more credit for those. I will try to put up a new Dom2 Version some time soon. Those I tend to setup on my server to be re-randomized every day but they use the same .tga (image) map.
What I may get to soon is one that does both. A random image with a random text assigning random opponents with totally surprising random stuff thrown in, and a new one every day.

Ok, I must be behind. I thought the random map creator only worked for Dom I.

Ok, so as I understand it, you currently "have the technology" to do that, right? You just don't have it set up on your server to generate automatically everyday, correct?
In other words, there is a way to generate random maps, assign random opponents and have other things randomized right now?

Not too bad. It even guesses at terrains and increased the map size. At the moment Im generating 30 new ones every day.

Yep. Ive done it all in bits and pieces. And I have ideas for extending it. If anyone is interested I would provide the parts. Or one of these days I will get more going. I fool with it alittle more every morning (when my brain works better)
