Re: Utterdark and Second Sun
If Utterdark works like a cloak to block the sun, then a second sun might just make it a hotter, dark greenhouse, satisfying Fluff the God of Things Making Sense.

Actually, a greenhouse works by letting light in, but not out. So I think the the great Fluff wont be appeased by that explanation

Re: Utterdark and Second Sun
The obvious explanation is that Utterdark blocks visible light, so you can't see anything. The UV and IR radiation from the Second Sun will still get through, however, so you'll still get heat and a nasty sunburn.

Re: Utterdark and Second Sun
Ok, so maybe not a greenhouse. But visible light can be blocked while heat still comes through. Especially using Medieval physics. If second sun increases heat scale, and utterdark reduces heat scale (does it?) it might come out with an appropriate result.

Well... Actually the spectrum of light from the sun is peaked around the visible area (otherwise evolution would have had some explaining to do ).
But of course, there is no reason for the world of dominions to have to be all scientific - it is fantasy after all. But still, details are nice - and having the combination of utterdark/second sun do something special would be fun I think.

Sure, the NORMAL sun does that, but Second Sun is inherently unnatural. More importantly, since it doesn't actually cause units to explode into flames or go blind, like the real sun does, it's probably a big IR lamp.
