Re: OT - See the Galaxy for less then 30 Altarian
I was sad to hear that Mr. Adams passed away. I am looking forward to the new movie. I hate to say it, but the old BBC Version was just painful to watch.

Re: OT - See the Galaxy for less then 30 Altarian
Has anybody read "The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul" and "Salmon of Doubt"?
Other than the Hitch-Hiker series, I have read "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" and "Last Chance to See" but I haven't read those other two. How are they?

Really, what did you find painful about it?. There has been discussion of the new movie, and I personally prefer the tv series Version Marvin to the new one (Then again its the only Version anyone has seen before)

Funny thing is, I watched it some time ago, I was still pretty young. I probably shouldn't judge it until I see it again as an adult. Back then, I just didn't like the production of it, except for the few special effects they had. I should go rent it and watch it again....

Well you have to take into acccount it is BBC science fiction. As the 4th Doctor, Tom Baker, has said (paraphrased)
"The BBC is great at period drama, but crap at giant rats" (or any other special effects)
Am I an avid Dr Who fan because I know which episode he was talking about
