Now, I am not saying that troops will not attack enemies that they cannot
damage, but in the example, above, this is not the case. Storm demons'
first attack has a physical component, and, theoretically, can hurt anyone.

I have never seen mages cast spells against enemies immune to the attack
type, and I have seen troops stand still because there was nothing they
could damage.

The original post describes something that looks like a bug.

they were firing those little lightning balls. those have a physical component?

ie. they were set on "fire" and were lobbing all their shots at the 100% immune SC instead of anything good (though further away).

I've tested the TC: S&A demons of heavenly fire against fire-immune stuff. They fly over and attack one turn, then flee immediately. It was quite funny.

I've seen them lobbing those fire balls at fire immune opponents. Happens when there's nothing else to attack. Don't know whether to laugh or weep when they just kill my own.

No mercy in this game - whole nation suffers from a stupid guy in charge.

Some of the spells and items that grant shock resistance explicitly state that they protect agains the stunning as well. So I've always assumed that inherent shock resistance is supposed to protect you from the stun effects as well as the damage.

Was there anything else weird going on in this mechanical men vs. lightning bolts battle? Like maybe the mechanical men were at over 100 fatigue, and that's what was messing things up somehow?

No I dont think so, but since the battle is long gone I cannot check... well if it happens again I'll get exhaustive screenshots and gather other intelligence as practicable
