The purchase routines does not supply you with barges,
unless you are doing an amphibious assault.
Please see the Game Manual, click on "Playing a Single Battle" link and then scroll down to the battle type/description matrix. Then refer to the "river crossing assault" for the details.
It's always worth a read through of the manual, before posting in the forum!
(The manual is easily accessed from the Game Options programme, select the "Help" tab, and then click on "Read the Game Manual", it will bring up the GM in your browser)
