Magic Site: Steel Ovens? Construction Bonus?
I found a the Steel Ovens magic site and it says: "Construction Bonus 20." How does this contruction bonus work? Does it mean buildings cost 20% less to build in this province?

No, it means all your construction spells and all the items you forge cost 20% less gems.

Is that 20% less in that province only or 20% for any forged items no matter where the forging mage is located?

While you often wont find one its very useful for MA ulm. Cast forge of the ancients, give the hammer of the forgelord to a master smith and put him in a province with the Steel Ovens, thats a 95% discount before you factor in the forge of the ancients, 70% if you can only get a dwarven hammer.

Re: Magic Site: Steel Ovens? Construction Bonus?
At least in Dominions 2, multiple forge bonuses multiplied not add.
So let's say you had Forge of the Ancients (x50%) and the Hammer of the Cyclops (x50%) and the Steel Ovens (x80%) - that all got multiplied and you ended up paying 20% (.5x.5x.8) not -20% (-.5-.5-.2).
That being said, the Dominions 2 cost calculator also had an absolute floor of 1 gem per pathcost (that is, 1 gem for every 5 gems the item originally cost). So even if you were a Nataraja with the Hammer of the Cyclops and the Hammer of the Forge Lord (100% Forge Bonus together), you were still paying out 8 Astral Pearls to make a Ring of Sorcery.
I assumne Dominions 3 is still like that.

Yea, i knew about the minimum cost thing but never knew the multiplying part, o well its still a great discount and really helps when cranking out banelord/black servant (strength boosters, heavy armour, horror helm and either awe or fireshield and they are mini terrors)
