Re: With SEIVG coming out soon, Does any one still play SEIV?
I'm another Newbie. In fact, unless I misread the web-site, I may have been the lucky soul who purchased the Last copy of SEIV before it went out of print!
I wanted to start right away, so I got what was available, rather than waiting for Gold. Perhaps by then, I'll know what I'm doing!
A lot of other Newbies here, huh? Maybe we should make a Newbie PBW game?

Re: With SEIVG coming out soon, Does any one still play SEIV?
I still play SE IV almost daily. I have several different solo games in progress, using different mods and/or races; I'll continue with whichever game suits my immediate mood.
I just joined one PBW game, and have started a second which is still looking for players ("Know Your Enemy").
The Gold release date is too far away for me to wait for. I'm probably going to install Gold on a different computer, and keep playing both.

Re: With SEIVG coming out soon, Does any one still play SEIV?
I've been playing SEIV for a couple of months (addictive game!). Ran across it looking for a good play by email game I could do with my brother and friends (my brother does shift work so real time is not an option). I got him one of the Last copies of SEIV for xmas and we have started playing. What I would like to know is that if we want to start up a game with some friends before SEIV Gold is out, are we out of luck (as you can't order new copies of SEIV)? Also, will there be a utility to upgrade an inprogress game from SEIV to SEIV-Gold?

Why the different computer? Current SE4 plays nicely with more than one install (I have two at the moment), I can't imagine Gold working any differently.

Playing two very long drawn out pbem games.
I stopped playing solo way back in 1.19

SE4 savegames are upgradeable to SE4G. It might be necessary to process a turn as the host but it is definitely possible, I have done it myself during BETA.

Because the computer I have SE IV installed on currently has only 40M left free on the HD, and there's nothing left that I'm ready to delete yet to make room. That might change by the time Gold is released, though.
