Re: Question on Ministers?
Hey, does anyone know how to make the AI analyze captured ships? Are there values that dictate how often they do this? Is it even possible?

Re: Question on Ministers?
Most of the time the Ai state is "defense, short term". The AI will not analyse ships. As odd as it sounds that is good. If the AI would analyse ships, it would mix up the intended research path and you could end up with dreadnoughts in turn 40 with anti-proton-beams level 1 up to turn 200 where the Ai will eventually research the next level of anti-proton-beams.

Re: Question on Ministers?
Interesting. That does foul up my plan for a Borg mod. Guess I'll just have to have two different Versions, an accurate one for players and a more spoonfed one for the AI.

Re: Question on Ministers?
Playing against the Borg would really be fun. I wonder though if there is a way you could write code that says any time the Borg destroy a ship they automatically learn any tech from that ship, without having to capture it and take it to their space yard. IIRC, the Borg do slice apart their enemies during battle for this purpose.

Re: Question on Ministers?
I had already thought of that actually. That is why I'm giving each cube an "assimilation node" that is essentially a small spacs yard with resource use set to zero, so that it can analyze/retrofit ships but can't make them. I gave them a total of -80% to research so that they would have to "assimilate" tech. Except for their racial tech whose tech should be scaled down in cost somewhat so that the Borg have a hope in hell of researching them.
Like I said, should work beautifully for a human player, but the AI half will need some serious tweaking.
