Just for the record, being scouts (as a unit class) does not give any bonus to stealth or spotting. Most scout units have a (small) bonus to experience and morale and that gives them slightly above average abilities. As scout units are smaller they are usually a size smaller which helps them stay unspotted. Finally they carry less equipment so most scouts get a point more movement. That makes it easier to avoid detection or get out of trouble.

Staying unseen and seeing as much as possible yourself is a survival trait for all combat troops, not just scouts.
