Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things
I'm sorry to apply to the strange occurance Hadrian.
If I am the only one and all the other guys really want the 24hrs I can disapply to the game (self sacrifice for the sake of the many) but I think there are others which need a bit more hours. Being quickhost, it will not be full 48 too, probably around 30 or so.
Lokean's decision anyway

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things
If game starts with 72h timer it will die before it starts. And we all know that many people do the turn when they get notification e-mail.

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things
Speaking as an interested spectator (and potential sub, should the need arise), and an advocate for slow games...
Mistletoe is on turn 16 running at 6-day quickhost from turn 1.
Yarnspinners2 ran 3 turns/week from turn 1, no quickhost.
The turn interval was announced in post #1; presumably everyone understood that when they signed up.

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things
IT was added later. And there are slow games and there are also dead games. There is absolutely no reason to have 72h timer when turns take 5 mins max.

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things
The turns might take 5 min. But I think this game should be more about role playing and that takes time. Use the extra initial time to create a really good background story for your race and commanders, the rise of your prophet and so on.
Though I agree that 72h is a bit long to begin with. I vote for 24 the first 5 turns and 48 from then on.
I can´t help but notice that I have been assigned two nations in the first post. I only want the hoburgs.

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things
Just starting with 48? I hate to ask this but I'd be in great trouble playing 5 consequent days - I don't have continuous access to the game.

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things
I'm not dropping it below 48h quickhost, but I suppose 48h is fine until somebody appeals for longer.
Also, anybody asking to join the game now will be considered for reserves if the original interested parties have dropped, but will not be added as a potential player unless somebody else pulls out, decides they don't want to play after all or vanishes.
K_O, if you're reading this still, would you prefer T'ien Ch'i to Shinuyama?

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things
With that attitude with timer you may have plenty of people staling or going AI. Just a warning based on some MP games.

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things
Considering that people have often complained about 24 hour forced turns we might want it longer. A 24 hour turnaround does work well but after all, those were games where all you had to do was plan your moves and turn them in. If we allow one day to make your move, and then another day or two or more to get antsy thinking about the game then maybe it will help draw out the AAR writing we are hoping for.

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things
I think you're a little armageddonish my friend
Just playing one day every two ( eventually as there is quickhost) instead of every day, in order to help game-companions partecipate the fun... would be sad if just this pulls someone out of the game.
Maybe if this one goes away just for this he wasn't really so interested in playing this game... ? It seems that for its very nature Lokean's Chronicles will be somewhat slow anyway soon.
For me, can't wait for it to start. Must also say it's an honour for me to play with some famous ppl of the forum and I thank Lokean even for this
