Is there an adverse affect if a sphere world is built around the only sun in a system with populated worlds?
I mean theoretically you are blocking all light from the Sun so do the planets become uninhabitable?
Edit: And what about ring worlds? same question.

Nah, the solid sphere still lets out practically all the sun's energy. It's just seriously red-shifted to the infared. Nothing a technologically advanced race can't handle.

Re: Sphere Worlds in Populated systems - Newbie Question
And if you destroy a sphereworld (or ringworld) the star doesn't come back, right? (Even though in the ringworld picture you can see a little star inside! )

Correct. In the stock game you can't destroy a ring/sphereworld. If you mod the game to give you a big enough tectonic bomb to destroy one of these, the result is a huge asteroid field and no star. You can in fact make a huge planet out of the asteroids and create a star, make a ringworld out of the star, destroy it, repeat, repeat, repeat, (How many huge worlds do you want with your sphereworlds sir? )

Re: Sphere Worlds in Populated systems - Newbie Question
Say, this could be the explanation of that report of a system with planets, but no star.

Re: Sphere Worlds in Populated systems - Newbie Question
i have never created a sphereworld before. i know there's some information in the faq about it. is there anothere place where i can find more info on how exactely one creates a sphere world or a ring world and what the difference between the two is, how to create a planet from asteroid fields (i didn't even know it was possible!)
this game just keeps getting better and better!
