We have said it before and say it again, Sometimes the gods of war ( the random number generator ) smiles on you and sometimes it smiles on the AI and sometimes all that takes is to restart the game from a fresh boot or just restarting the game.....or not....... that CB could have happened anyway if you had waited for a few more turns to post......or not.

The word "random" is the key word in "random number generator"

It is actually good that the game has an honest random-number generator. Some modern games, like the new X-COM series, mollycoddle players by interfering in true randomness to miminise their frustration with life's harsh realities.
