Ejecting Players
You're in a game in which one player has stopped submitting turns and doesn't answer email Queries. Everyone in the game agrees that the position should become an AI.
How do you do this without knowing the player's password?

You must have the password in order to turn someone into an AI player.

Re: Ejecting Players
I see. How should one handle dropout players, then?

Re: Ejecting Players
You could always have folks give their passwords to someone on this board. Maybe Gandalf Parker if he is willing to do this...he seems to do a lot for the community.
Then the person would be contacted and if they don't reply the person having the password could, without giving you the password, convert the player to AI.
Just a thought. But it requires someone willing to help in this fashion.

Heehee. Actually Ive successfully taken over a player who has abandoned games without them telling me their password. But I swear that I only use my powers for good. Im a white-hat hacker.

It wouldnt be any trouble at all to setup an email address solely for the purpose of archiving passwords. All games could have everyone email their info and password to that address which wont need to do anything with them. Just hold them until some game host has need to dig it up. Anyone with a server or domain could do it (me, or for more neutrality maybe Illwinter or Shrapnel)
At first I thought you were mentioning me becaue of my fill-in functions in Dom1. I think I started about 6 MP games, but I did fill-in duty in 23. I like that challenge. Playing with what is given me. Close to my random map games. (plus the pressure was off since no one expected me to win)
