Romanian OB

Hello

I’ve been playing WinSPMBT for a couple of weeks so far and I like it a lot. I normally play as the Romanians and in doing so I noticed several inaccuracies and missing equipment in their OB. Now, how do I go about fixing this? Should I report my findings here or would it be better to alter the OB myself and send it to the design team for evaluation once it's done? I was hoping that my corrections could be used in future versions of WinSPMBT. What do you think?

First, let’s tackle the MANPADS – otherwise known as Man Portable Air Defence Systems
Romanians have only one type of shoulder-launched SAM in v2.5 and that is the 9M32 missile fired from the 9K32 Strela-2 system (NATO designation SA-7a). I believe that Romanian air defence used this system once, but it’s been replaced by a different system known as CA-94M since 1999. The CA-94M system is basically an improved CA-94 (I believe this is the Romanian designation for the 9K32M Strela-2M system - NATO designation SA-7b). The CA-94M provides improved head-on capability, proximity fuze and a more lethal warhead.

This program was aimed at improving
the performances
of the system as follows:
- Increasing the target hit probability up to 0.4
by introducing a proximity fuze with a lethal radius of
0.5 m.
- Increasing the destructive capability by introducing
a new warhead with improved explosive charge
and high efficiency fragmentation elements.
- Improving the work stability and reliability of
missile’s electronic section, by realizing it in hybrid
technology.
- Improving the chances to correctly launch the
missile, by introducing the lead angles analysis and
indication system, which facilitates and corrects the
gunner’s actions.

Also missing is the Maliutka-M2T upgrade of the AT-3. It consists of an improved engine and an integrated Milan-2T warhead. These modernized AT-3 missiles were fitted on MLI-84 infantry fighting vehicles from about 1999 onwards. By the way, the MLI-84 fired a 25mm Oerlikon KBA automatic canon instead of a 73mm gun. Perhaps earlier models did, but not the ones equipped with Maliutka-M2T missiles.

Another thing.

In the table of equipment, there is the SA-8a listed and available from 1980 to 1992. True or not, I've seen SA-8b on parade in 2004 and I believe they are still in service today.

Also missing from the table of equipment is the SA-3. But unfortunately I have no dates. All I know is that Elmec (www.elmec.ro) provides safety systems for firing SA-3 among other SAM missiles.

There are a few problems with the TR-85M1 and M2 tanks.
First, their fire control system (which probably is the only good thing about this tank) includes thermal imaging according to ROMTEHNICA, the company in charge of the upgrades.

The new turret of the TR-85M1 with its additional passive armour offers protection equivalent to around 580 mm KE (according to a romanian military magazine, but I find this a little dubious - your thoughts?) over the frontal arc of the turret. This might explain why the TR-85M1/M2 is so heavy. It weighs a little more than a T-90.



Finally, both the M1 and M2 don't have missile countermeasures. In version 2.5, the M2 has two ARENA shots.

The M2 has improved survivability due to redesigned ammunition stowage.
