Default Map Editor

I have it on a reasonably good authority that this is the right forum for this, so...

I've been getting a range check error when I try to place planets in the map editor. Has anyone else recieved this/know how to fix it?
Thank you
MCO

The names of planets have to end with roman numbers. E.g. Orion I, Zorium IV, etc.

Need little more information please:
Are you trying to change the name of the planets after you place them? The map editor does have some bugs, but there are ways to work around them.

I also get this problem, usually when I've just generated a map and then try to edit a planet.

I'm not sure why it happens but I'm fairly sure it's because I'm making a new planetset..

Strange thing is it only happens some of the time. Could be to do with the contents of a system?

I tried keeping the Roman numerals, seems to be working. Thanks everyone for the help.

This problem applys to all roman numericly related objects.

I hope they get things fixed real so I can get on naming systems correctly.

The problem arises because when deciding on what to call the next planet the Map editor searches all the other planets to see waht they are called. And if its named differently it cocks up.

Oh well. . .

Until the problem is patched, you should be able to get around this by placing all of the objects in the system before you rename any of them.
