Bug Helmut\' Sappers
Helmut built a fortified city all on his own. He did not use any of my money to do it. However he destroyed the Jotunheim (128) city in doing this.

what i have seen happen, is that if you hire a merc away from an AI (could be a player, if there were ever a player so stupid), the merc will keep his current orders - which, in this case, was probably "build fortification" - and you get a fort for free. or the money for it, if you cancel the orders...

Yes, I did just hire him away from someone the turn before and did not move him because I was planning to bring him in behind my troops.

There's a second bug reported in there, though, namely that you can "overwrite" a fort before tearing the old one down.

I did check the short list but was looking for errors concerning Helmut's Sappers. The short list is rather daunting.

No need to apologize. The shortlist is fairly extensive, it is meant to be. It was a fairly daunting task to organize it the first time around, but after that, maintenance has been less so.
Sometimes things may not be obvious, so the problems get reported several times and that is not necessarily a bad thing. In such cases I just tend to post a brief "Known issue, already shortlisted" post to let the person know that Illwinter is aware of the issue. It is not meant to be a rebuke.
WRT mercenaries, all bugs related to them are either statfix issues OR behavior related issues, so they will be found either in the unit statfix section or the BHV section of the shortlist.
