Thanks Kwok, found that and adjusted the minimum numbers. You're correct, changing it has no effect on an already started game.
Is there a text file that determines the Game Options settings...

I can't seem to get to point defense weapons in 1.18, they don't come up after military science is researched? :confused:

10-4, I've noticed inconsistent behavior in marking minefields cleared. Thought maybe it was something I was doing/not doing. Maybe I just haven't seen it enough to understand the behavior?! :doh:

What is the command to tell the game to stop marking an area as having a minefield once you've run into one (and the mines are gone) ? Is that documented somewhere?

I've altered settings.txt to have a minimum of 6 computer players at the medium setting to a maximum of 10. I've started new games with as few as 5, and as many as 14 computer players with the medium...

There's a bug or loophole with research. By turn two I've achieved level 100 of point defense and level 48 in research. (Must be a smart race!!) Note the total percentage of 65636!

I will add that while the game turn time is improved I am still seeing slow menu/list response in a large game. Waiting more than 5 seconds for a menu to display starts to get old, when the wait...

On a Pentium D 2.80 Ghz w/2 Gig Ram, in a large universe (stock settings w/ latest balanced mod, w/ 10 races my turns have gone from 24 minutes to process to 8 minutes. So a three fold improvement...
